The short answer

Both apps record your computer’s audio on Mac and Windows, with no bot in the call. Jamie streams the audio to its servers in the EU, transcribes and summarizes it there, then deletes the audio and keeps your notes in its EU cloud, with phone apps, CRM integrations and ISO 27001. Kimiko transcribes and summarizes on your computer and keeps your library there.

Choose Kimiko if

  • You want meetings transcribed and summarized on your own computer.
  • You need meetings processed offline once your models are downloaded.
  • You’d like to choose your AI models, or use your own provider account.
  • You want PDF, Word or Markdown exports and dictation in other apps.

Choose Jamie if

  • You want a free plan for a few short meetings a month.
  • You record in person on an iPhone or Android phone.
  • You want voices remembered and named automatically in later meetings.
  • Your team shares a workspace, syncs a CRM, or needs ISO 27001.

Where they differ

On your computer, or in Jamie’s EU cloud

Jamie captures audio on your device and streams it to its servers in the EU. There, Soniox transcribes it and cloud language models write the summary; the audio is deleted once it’s transcribed, and your notes stay in Jamie’s EU cloud. Jamie says neither it nor its providers train on your data.

Kimiko runs local speech and AI models and keeps your library in an encrypted database on your computer, so your meetings don’t reach Kimiko’s servers. You can still connect a cloud provider for a feature, with your own account.

Working offline, and meeting limits

Jamie needs an internet connection to create notes. Its plans cap meetings at 30 minutes on Free, 2 hours on Plus and 5 hours on Pro and above, and Free and Plus include 10 and 20 AI notes a month.

Kimiko’s downloaded models keep working without internet. It processes meetings on your own hardware, so speed depends on your computer and the models you choose.

Teams, phones and integrations

Jamie adds iPhone and Android apps for in-person meetings, Speaker Memory that names familiar voices, a shared team workspace, CRM integrations and a hosted MCP server on Pro, and ISO 27001 certification.

Kimiko is a desktop workspace for your own notes, meetings and tasks: a notes editor whose notes shape the summary, projects, questions across your library, dictation into other apps, PDF, Word or Markdown exports, and local MCP.
