The short answer
Krisp and Kimiko both record calls from your desktop without a bot. Krisp pairs its notetaker with on-device noise cancellation and accent conversion; it transcribes English on your device, other languages on its servers, and writes AI notes in the cloud. Kimiko runs transcription and AI on your computer by default and keeps your library there.

Where they differ
What runs on your device
Krisp runs noise cancellation, accent conversion and English transcription on your computer. Other languages are transcribed on Krisp’s servers, and AI notes are written with Microsoft Azure. On Enterprise, English transcripts and audio can stay on the device.
Kimiko runs both steps locally by default: a speech model writes the transcript, and a local AI model writes the summary, suggests tasks and answers your questions. Cloud providers are optional, with your own account.
Where meetings are kept
Krisp stores transcripts, notes and recordings on AWS in the United States. Recordings stay until you delete them, and you can delete the audio while keeping the transcript. Krisp says it doesn’t train its models on meeting data.
Kimiko keeps your library in an encrypted database on your computer and doesn’t save meeting audio unless you ask it to.
Better calls, or a home for your notes
Krisp’s noise cancellation and accent conversion change what other people hear on your calls. Kimiko has nothing like them.
Kimiko is a notes workspace: a full editor beside the transcript, projects, tasks you keep or dismiss, questions across your whole library, dictation into other apps, and PDF, Word or Markdown exports.
