Best Private AI Meeting Note Takers 2026: Local vs Cloud
Compares seven tools from their makers’ own pages, and suggests Kimiko for local-first notes “in a paid app with dictation built in”.
The catch: It’s desktop only, on an Apple-silicon Mac or Windows 11. 16 GB of RAM is the practical start for local models, speaker recognition is marked experimental, and it goes online for downloads and license checks unless you turn on Local-only mode.

How this list works
- Someone on our team reads every piece before it goes up, and you’ll see the date they read it.
- We show what the writer liked and what they say is missing.
- We say when a publication is run by AI.
- We leave out link farms and sites that carry adult tools. A piece comes down if it stops mentioning Kimiko.
